Emily Fields

 
The talented star swimmer of Rosewood High School’s swim team, Emily had a complicated past relationship with former best friend Alison before she died. Although she struggled initially in coming out, her parents and mother especially have been accepting, and her relationship with Maya helped her to initially accept her sexuality. She and Paige had a brief relationship when Paige was still “in the closet”. Out of all the Liars, Emily’s parents have the most stable relationship, neither having cheated on the other before. She is the most sensitive of the girls and shows a great deal of compassion and empathy to people who are suspicious or outcasts. She was the second Liar to be “visited” by Alison, and came face-to-face with “A” in season two.
